Keys for IT Success

The Keys for IT Success are based on five Themes that summarise the issues facing IT and IS since its inception through to the present day.

In 2005, the first version of KITS was built by identifying key themes for measuring and improving the quality of IT by refering to the UK Government's E-Government frameworks, laws, and initatives. These included the Cabinet Office's Security Framework, GovTalk's E-Government Interoperability Framework, and the Framework for Electronic Records Management from the Records Management Society of Great Britain.  The creator of KITS, Peter Marshall, has continued to deepen and clarify the themes within KITS, the second major version being released some three years after the original.

The latest version, 2.0, is based on the following Themes:

The KITS Model would not have been possible without the input of experts from in IT and management fields, including Edward De Bono and Stephen Covey, of staff at the Cabinet Office and the historical Office of the e-Envoy, the World Wide Web Consortium, Microsoft, Oracle, and even college and university tutors.  KITS represents a foundation upon which you can build to improve your IT, and the Library only a sample of the material available for you.

KITS has proven itself worthy of praise, delivering IT solutions that will stand the test of time.  Check out the Themes for yourself.  And if something doesn't seem right, or something is clearly missing, then please send Feedback!  And, in time-honoured marketting fashion, pass on the word by adding a link to http://www.keys4it.org.uk to your site and publications.

In later years, it is hoped that KITS will be enhanced to reference legal obligations for Local Authorities, and your input would be appreciated.  There is hope, too, that the website will be improved to look prettier (!) and to include bulletin boards for feedback and discussion in each of the topic areas.

Build IT with KITS!
